Alberta Moose Hunting
Alberta Moose Hunting, Alberta Moose Hunts, Canada Moose Hunting, Moose Hunting Guides

In 2010, we will be doing three (3) hunts of ten (10) days and three (3) hunts of six (6) days. The ten (10) day hunt will be $6,000 US and the six (6) day hunts will sell for $4,800 US. This hunt is all inclusive (food, lodging, guide service and transportation). The hunter will be responsible for the cost of one (1) day hotel coming and for one (1) night going, plus the cutting and wrapping of the meet. All hunters in 2009 got moose.
We are only doing hunts in November as the moose are in better shape and the meat is much nicer than when the moose are in the rut. In November, we usually have snow, the leaves are off the trees and the ground is frozen, which makes finding and tracking the animals much easier.
In most of the areas that we hunt moose, we also have allocation for mule deer. If a hunter is successful early and wants to continue to hunt, we will be able to let him continue hunting mule deer. This will depend on having allocation left at that time due to the limited amount of mule deer available. All these hunts will be done out of lodges and Bed & Breakfast. All the moose hunts are done with one (1) guide for two (2) hunters. We do these hunts in three (3) different areas and we do no more than one (1) hunt per area per year.
The moose hunt is done largely by foot, meaning, walking. This is not a physically demanding hunt as the walking is very slow and this is in no way tiring. We had two veterans from the Second World War hunting with us a few years back and they did very well. One of these hunters killed his moose on the first day, and by the time the hunt was over, they saw over half (1/2) a dozen moose. We also use ATV’s in some cases and if the snow is deep we may use snow machines as well.
We take the hunters in the day before the hunt starts to ensure the hunter is in camp early, and come out on the afternoon of the last day. From camp, we go as far as we can with a truck, then the rest of the way with ATV’s.
There are advantages and disadvantages to each hunt, all three of these hunts are designed to meet the expectations of ALL moose hunters.
Moose Hunt Option
In the event that hunter fills his moose tag early, we don’t consider the hunt over. We have mule deer, white-tail deer, wolf and coyote in the same areas where we hunt moose. We would offer him an allocation and a tag for another animal and the hunt would continue for the scheduled duration, provided we have available allocation. There would be an extra cost for the provincial license/tag.
